Swietokrzyskie Province, which can be translated as the ‘Province of the Holy Cross’, is located in the centre of Poland. One of the smallest administrative divisions, it offers a lot of attractions, especially the mountains which cover a significant area of the province. Apart from Swietokrzystkie Mountains, it owes its popularity to some historical sights and attractive towns, such as Sandomierz, little but lovely, with a magnificent Old Town and other attractions. Castle ruins in Checiny and Krzyztopor are also worth a visit.. Kielce, the major city, has also some interesting places to explore, including a geologic reserve with scenic rock formations.
